I was doing some cleaning and came across these old programs from the '84 and '86 Historicon conventions. I decided I didn't need to keep them anymore, so took some photos to list them on eBay. I attended the '84 event that Saturday! Drove down with a parent (good ol' Mom) from Pennsylvania and ended up purchasing some 15mm Scots Greys and British horse artillery as well as a few magazines that I still have. A fun day, and I even bought Mom lunch on our drive home.

Yes, thank heaven for our parents! I went with my Mom and Dad. They would drop me at the con and explore the local shopping and restaurants in the area (back before everything was a chain!)
DeleteNice! I am not absolutely sure which was the first HMGS convention I made it to; for Historicon I think it might have been '88, but I remember a mini-con (not yet Cold Wars) at some location up the road from the Sheraton, possibly '87.
ReplyDeleteYes, they ran a series of Mini-Cons as a precursor to Cold Wars at a Ramada Inn in Lanham, MD. Here's the program from '86: https://www.ebay.com/itm/133081522226?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
