Wars of Ozz Kickstarter 2: Last Few Days

There's just 4 days left to get in on the newest Wars of Ozz Kickstarter!    The kickstarter is introducing 3 new factions to the world of "Wars of Ozz"; the Land of Harvest, Impkins, and Gnomes.  It also features the debut of the new "Wars of Ozz" Campaign Boardgame; which can be played as a regular board wargame, or used as a campaign engine for your miniatures battles.  A truly novel concept!
Be sure to check out all the great new minis offered in this event. Old Glory has done a great job of bringing charm, whimsy and life to this range of models.   And rules author Buck Surdu, as done a great job of giving each new faction its own characteristics while still keeping everything balanced and not adding dozens of new special rules.  The old factions won't be outclassed, and still will offer a competitive exciting battles with the new.

I've had a chance to play both the Land of Harvest and Gnome Armies in playtesting and have enjoyed both.   And I can't say enough about the figures!  There's so many delightful and unique concepts among them, like the Harvest Land's Corn People, and the Gnomish 4-Wheeled Artillery.
So, be sure to check out the Kickstarter before it ends.  All the details can be found at:    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/blackstone/wars-of-ozz-wave-2
And also consider joining the very active Facebook group to keep up with all the latest information on "Wars of Ozz": https://www.facebook.com/groups/2913158765445476

"Wars of Ozz" Kickstarter in Final 48 Hours!

The Wars of Ozz Kickstarter is completely funded and closes Saturday, July 25 2020 3:00 PM BST

Wars of Ozz is a fantasy miniatures game set in the marvelous world of Ozz first chronicled by L. Frank Baum's in 1900, and now the inspiration for a totally unique mass battle tabletop experience. Russ has taken Baum's world as an inspirational starting point for creating our own 'Ozz', a post-apocalyptic Earth where after the last 'Madness Bomb' fell in the 'Last Great War', survivors mutated and chaos reigned until several hundred years later the Wizard arrived.

The Campaign
The Kickstarter Campaign closes Saturday, July 25 2020 3:00 PM BST
Wars of Ozz is completely funded and some great Free miniatures have been unlocked for Backers including female munchkin pirates from Admiral JinJars famous crew and the Adventurers of Ozz character set that includes Dorothy, Toto, The Tinman, Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion.
Over 60 packs of miniatures are available in the wave one release including all the troop types needed to field a Munchkin, Quadling, Gilikin or Winkie Army.

The rules written by Buck Surdu have been designed from the start to support solo, two player and team play. The rulebook contains everything needed to play a streamlined and intuitive ‘fantasy’ horse and musket mass battle game, together with full background of the world, it’s factions, scenarios and uniform guides.
There are just a few days left of the kickstarter campaign, so if it is of interest, check it out now!

"Wars of Ozz" Kickstarter Launches this Saturday, June 27th!

"Wars of Ozz" is a 28mm Mass Fantasy Battle Game inspired by the ‘Oz’ series of books written by L. Frank Baum between 1900 and 1920. The inspirational literature has been greatly expanded by Russ Dunaway, to form a unique new fantasy gaming world to battle over, populated with Munchkins, Quadlings, Winkies and Gillikins combined with Witches, Wizards, Pumpkin Men, animated Scarecows and Tinmen, Giants, Trolls, Skeletons and much, much more.
The miniatures range has been designed, sculpted and manufactured by Old Glory and when fully released will include 60 packs of miniatures.

The ‘Wars of Oz’ rules are written by Buck Surdu, author of Gaslight and Combat Patrol among many more published works. The game is a mass battle rather than a skirmish game. Infantry units are 20 strong, mounted 4 to a base. Two or more units of Infantry, Cavalry or Artillery are formed into a Brigade and an Army is comprised of one or more Brigades. The game is designed to be played on a standard 6’ x 4’ wargames table, with a typical game reaching its conclusion in two to three hours. The rulebook covers the background and history of Ozz, army building, movement, melee, ranged combat, magic and morale together with points lists for tournament play, scenarios, maps, campaign and painting guides.

Check it out here: "Wars of Ozz" on Kickstarter  , and don't miss the kick-off on Saturdayt!

Killer Rabbit Figures based on Medieval Manuscript Margin Art

A friend and I split a pledge from the recent Killer Rabbits Kickstarter from Skull and Crown, which launched a range of rabbit miniatures based on the margin art of medieval manuscripts.    It arrived earlier this month, and I've been working on them the last two weeks to get them cleared off the painting desk before the Reaper Bones 4  Kickstarter arrives.

Here are my results; done to a tabletop quality.  I'm really pleased with how these little guys turned out; and eventually when these guys are available on the manufacturer's website,  I hope to flesh out a full cavalry unit of snail mounted rabbits!

Here is an example of the original medieval artwork inspiration for snail and lion rabbits. I tried to copy the original shield design for the snail rider.

Medieval Killer Rabbit Kickstarter

I always like to give a plug to any Kickstarter I back, so I thought I'd let you all know about this Killer Rabbit Kickstarter, being done by Skull & Crown.
The figures are based on  the margin decorations of medieval manuscripts, that sometimes depicted rabbits doing all sorts of violent things to unsuspecting humans.   I thought that these guys would make a great Easter-themed force for my Christmas War armies, but they also have use in any Fantasy setting.

Dwarven Forge's City Builder Terrain System Kickstarter Arrived!

Just a quick blog update to let folks know that I was surprised to find my fulfillment package from Dwarven Forge's City Builder Terrain System Kickstarter waiting for me on the doorstep this afternoon.    It was last March when I bought into this Kickstarter.  I didn't receive any shipping notice, so it came as quite a pleasant surprise.

It's going to take a while to unpack all the little pieces, with each one being individually bagged.  But, I unpacked enough to play around with some simple builds.  I'm really pleased with how snuggly everything fits together, as I know there was some concern folks had abut this during the Kickstarter.

Here's a simple tutor structure, with a free DF figure and giant rat that came with my package.

One of the cool features, is the metal sheets in the roof pieces that allow magnetic accessories to be applied, like this fire.  There are also fire inserts that go in the window.

After the fire...  Here are some of the ruined pieces. I've noticed some pieces, like this ruined roof, are warped.  I'm going to need to see how to un-warp these.  Perhaps the same treatment as Reaper's Bones figures.
More to follow in the coming days, as I have a chance to play around with everything.

Dwarven Forge City Builder Kickstarter

I just wanted to take a moment and let my readers know about the new Dwarven Forge City Builder Kickstarter.   It is introducing a neat new product from Dwarven Forge for creating modular city buildings.   While a little on the pricey side, I really like the "building block' nature of the components, and think it will be a lot of fun to play around with, besides being really beautifully crafted like everyone has come to expect from Dwarven Forge.
I've gone in for the Hamlet set and a couple of the extra roof packs so far.  I'm interested to see just how far this one can go, knowing the success of past Dwarven Forge Kickstarters.
To check it out for yourself, visit their Kickstarter Page.

EDIT  3.13.15:  As of last night, they have added several packs of some great looking sewers! Be sure to chck these out

Reaper BONES CAV Kickstarter In Its Final 10 Days

The Reaper CAV Bones Kickstarter has only got a little over a week to go, so now is the time for anyone interested in Big Stompy Robots, or Sci-Fi gaming in general, to get in and be a part of it.

While not in it for the Mechs, I have gone in to this Kickstarter big time, to buy tanks and other vehicles in anticipation of working on the next installment of our "Look, Sarge, No Charts" series of rules, which will be for Sci-Fi mass combat. So, like me, even if you're not into the CAV rules, there are a lot of other uses for these cheap Mechs and vehicles.

Here's the link, so folks can go take a look (and pledge!):

Oops, I Did It Again: Reaper Bones Kickstarter II

Well, for those who don't already know, Reaper began another Bones Kickstarter on the first day of the month, and up until now I had resisted; as the box of mostly still unpainted Bones from the last Reaper Kickstarter is till sitting next to my painting table. It was good incentive not to buy in.    However, I am weak when it comes to such quantities of nice inexpensive minis, so I knew it was only time before I caved.  So today in a weak moment I went and pledged.  Oh, well, my painting queue is now full for the next few years. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.  If I can only finish the first Bones Kickstarter box before the projected delivery of December 2014 for the second.  :-)

My Reaper Bones Kickstarter Box Arrived!

When I got home this afternoon, there was a big box waiting on my doorstep, and sure enough, it was my Reaper Bones Kickstarer figures! I thought I'd take some photo of the opening 'ceremony', so those that haven't received their box yet, can anticipate a little better what will be arriving soon at their homes as well.
In the box, on top, are an invoice and a color flyer advertising Reaper paint and giving a brief 4 step painting guide to Bones, then are some shipping protection air pillows and all the extra figures I ordered as separate add-ons.  Then beneath this is the Vampire box itself.

In the actual Vampire box are 6 large plastic bags, each containing dozens of the figures.  My painting queue is all set for the next decade. :-)
